Reply results of the questionnaire on recent government¡¦s consultation on proposed reform to broaden Hong Kong's tax base [the introduction of a Goods and Services Tax (GST)]

The questionnaire was sent to fellow engineers on my database in early August. By 31 August 2006, 275 questionnaires have been duly completed and returned. Following is a summary of the reply results:

(Remark: 2 replies do not give answer to the above question although comments are given. Therefore, the sum of the above responses does not add up to 275 ¡V the total number of completed and returned questionnaires. Its total is 273 only)

2. Do you agree with the important features of the proposed GST framework?

  2. No[17]

(Remark: Respondents ticking ¡§No¡¨ as the answer to question 1 were not asked to answer question 2. However, some still volunteered to do so. As a result, there are 124 replies to question 2 which do not correspond to the total of 117 replies saying ¡§yes¡¨ to question 1)
