Reviving Shelved New Development Areas Projects in the New Territories

I write to ask you to re-visit those New Development Areas projects in the New Territories which have been shelved for several years due to poor economic conditions.

It is the best time for the government to revive these shelved projects including Kwu Tong (¥j¬}) and Hung Shui Kiu (¬x¤ô¾ô) given the recent robust economic recovery. The government should also proceed with these improvement projects in the New Territories without delay with a view to improving the environment and the living conditions of the areas. The implementation of these projects will certainly help alleviate the unacceptable unemployment problem in the construction sector. Going ahead with these projects will definitely be a classic case of killing two birds with one stone.

I understand that the government has to consult the public on these projects. As the public consultation process may take some time, the government should lose no time in kick-starting these projects again.

I look forward to your favourable response as soon as possible.
